Do you need an Interior design firm for your renovation ?

I have come across some posts in some of the forums about managing your own renovation work. So

Why you want to manage your own renovation ? Because you want to save money. How much you actually save when you manage your own renovation without a Interior design Firm 

Let says  your renovation cost quote by the  Interior design firm is 30k you probably able to save about 25% to 30% so in dollars and cents what you can save about 7.5k but remember all the leave to need to use up and the time to go down to the job site to monitor the work and getting angry with the workers when they make mistake. If you thinks it worth it by all mean go ahead and manage your own renovation works

So you had decided to manage and coordination you own renovation

Next is, what you need to know for managing the renovation work.......

Normally give yourself a month to 2 months for pre renovation works

1) Know exactly what you want for the house.

2) Plan you layout check out some website and magazine for design you like 

3) Check out the furniture for the house and make a list for it

4) If you need engage a freelance designer with your planning and design of your house add the cost to your renovation 

5) Sourcing and appointing contractors for the renovation ( ask around with friends and relatives for contact because it is always good to use contractors that your friends or relative have work with.

6) Check with the contractors the cost and the time frame for individual work. 

7) Work out a timeline for the renovation work 

8) Few days before the actual day of the renovation call and cfm with contractors again to let them about the job.

9)To regular check on the job ( talk to them and explain to them what you want them to do most of the time the boss or the foreman will miss out some of the detail ) 

10) If you notice some mistake don't get over excited and scold the workers just call the in charge and explain to them you need it to amend. Take photo and indicate the place is wrongly done )

11)Maintain the area cleanliness ( good house keeping is important ). 

12) keep all conversation in your phone or whatapp for prove
